What is solar energy?
What is Solar Energy?
Solar energy is an amazing and renewable power source that comes from the sun. This energy not only fuels life on Earth but also provides a clean and sustainable way to produce electricity. Did you know that in just one hour, the sun sends more energy to Earth than everyone on the planet uses in an entire year? We can capture and convert this energy into electricity using solar photovoltaic (PV) modules. "Photo" means light, and "voltaic" means electricity – so, PV modules turn light into electricity.
How Does Solar Energy Work and Why Should We Use It?
Solar PV modules work by absorbing sunlight and turning it into electrical current. This means that as long as the sun is shining, we can generate electricity almost anywhere. Plus, solar energy systems can include batteries to store energy, making them useful even in places far from the utility grid. Since solar panels have no moving parts, they require very little maintenance and can last over 25 years, providing reliable electricity for a long time. Unlike fossil fuels, solar energy doesn’t need to be mined, refined, or transported, making it a cleaner and more eco-friendly option.
The Growing Solar Industry
The solar industry is expanding rapidly, which means we are moving away from polluting and non-renewable energy sources. This growth also means a rising demand for skilled workers who can design and install PV systems.
